@Torbera- The ones used by every-day folk, sure. Martial artists or other physical adepts used one to continually practice their balance. The mercenary priest in Princess Mononoke, for instance, wears this type of sandal.
They're called geta. They come in several styles, including ones with two things, ones with one thing, ones with short things, and ones with LONG things.
