Tenfingers desperately tried to retreat back into her dream about stealing pies filled with gold coins, but the knocker bolted to her outer door wouldn't permit it.
CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.
"Mmmm, wazzat? I'll be right there."
She swung her legs off the bed and made her way unsteadily towards the door. Sadly her autopilot hadn't been preprogrammed with the additional weight of her breasts. A few hasty steps helped restore her balance, but in the process, she trod upon some of the crushed items littering the floor. What felt crunchy to her while booted in her earlier struggle to remove her tunic were like caltrops to her bare feet now. She cursed under her breath while dislodging something jagged from her heel. Then she reached for the handle. This had better be important.
Veritus was in the hallway, lit by pale moonlight, looking like an eager puppy.
Her sudden urge to fling open the door and throttle him was reined in by A) the mitigating factor of her lovely new endowments making her raid on the old wizard's house not totally in vain, and B) the fact that said endowments weren't covered, and that this would take the sting out of any beating she could bestow on him. Thus she remained shielded by the door and treated him instead to one of her best grimaces. Her throbbing feet lent it authenticity.
"So?" her voice was glacial.
"So, you did it! I went by that mage's place today. Clouds of dust were coming out of the windows. He was practically tearing the place apart looking for something. Boy, I bet you made a good haul. I was even at Croax's Arcane Emporium looking to see if anyone made any recent 'important archaeological finds' of powerful magic items." He gave her an indulgent wink before continuing. "But- Say, what's that noise?"
It was Tenfingers grinding her teeth. "That's what you came here to ask?"
"Well yeah. Professional curiosity of course. It's good to know how well certain jobs turned out. That way I can figure it into my rate structure and-"
"And go away. Little man."
Veritus was crestfallen. Before the door could close on him he piped up. "And I was worried about you. I knew you'd be in danger. I just wanted to know if you were all right. I guess you don't need my help though." The door opened a crack wider. "Wait, are you not wearing a shirt?"
Man, I hate it when that happens. A nice moment turns up, then you say something stupid and the other person gets angry and ends it. Why can't people be more forgiving. T_T

The door slammed shut on the ruined moment.
