Hearing the steady beat of hooves on loose stone caused Chrono to quicken her pace. If Lucan had traveled across the continent to say goodbye she didn't think she could bear it, nor could she handle the rider not being him. The sound drew closer, she would find out which intolerable situation she was in soon enough.
"Chronokesh!" there was a wildness of desperation in his voice.
It was Lucan! She wanted to run to him and hide away at the same time. "I was hoping you wouldn't see me like this." Her normally lithe form was buried in thick accumulations of fat around her chest, rear, and thighs, weight put on in to sustain her through the long sleep ahead. She was naked simply because nothing fit anymore.
"That matters very little to me." He alighted from his mount and walked alongside her. "When I heard the Golden Dragonflight was retreating to its den to hibernate, I came immediately." He looked at the yawning mouth of the cave ahead. "Somehow I made it in time."
"But for what? This is just pouring salt in the wounds of our farewell at Dwenendain. You should have married by now, started a family." She didn't know why she said that, she hated the idea anyone but her possessing him, hated the certainty of losing him even more. "The magic of the whole plane ebbs, and to endure, I must join my broodsisters. What more can be said?"
"Nothing, even though I've rehearsed a million speeches in my head on my journeys. Actions speak louder than words." Here he kissed her over she shoulder. Not urgently with the brief bright flame of passion, but with a slow tenderness imbued with a limitless warmth. Warmth that would sustain her through her slumber more capably than the energy stored in her overripe form.
They broke apart, and she took a last look back. "When I sleep I will dream of you."
it's too bad that few real women do that with "thick accumulations of fat". if ALL women did it, the world would be a much more... beautiful *GRIN* place.
I, uh... this is one of those rare times where I'm alot more captivated by the effect of the story, rather than the beauty of the drawing... Do not worry, Lucan! I bet you can see her after her slumber. I just hope it's a regular, a few months long one and not something like a thousand years of sleep...
